Growing up in the North of America, in the 70's, I learned about black history. The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, the Old and what was New. But it seemed like I was taught a good bit. Now it seems as if most people only want to share the negative. And, unfortunately, when I say most people I mean Black People.
It seems as if we "Black People" are focusing on the negatives of our race and we want the rest of us to get down there also. Sorry, not me. I want us to rise. I want us to arrive at whatever place God has prepared for us. I know our history. Now I am 100% focused on our future. Especially the future of our children.
So, "Let's Rewrite Our Narrative" for our children and their children to come.
Contributors Needed. If you have something positive to contribute to this site, please contact us. A story, a photograph, a positive piece of Black History. I want this site to go live on February 1st, 2020.
African American History Month, also called Black History Month, a monthlong commemoration of African American history and achievement that takes place each February in the United States. It was begun in 1976.
The idea for an African American History Month was first conceived by the historian Carter G. Woodson and members of his Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (now the Association for the Study of African American Life and History). Together they organized a Negro History Week, beginning in February 1926.
